Herbert Michael Courtney
Herbert Michael “Mike” Courtney, 66, of Charlotte, NC passed away suddenly on August 28, 2024. He was born in Boone County, WV on September 27, 1957 to the proud parents John C Courtney and Carol S (Thompson) Courtney. He had two brothers Marty (passed) and Clay.
Mike met and married his wife Michelle (Manganiello) Courtney in June of 2000. They were not blessed with children but had much love for their three nieces (Dani, Ashley, Kandis) and three nephews (Cedric, Mickey, Christopher).
Mike was a machine adjuster for 30+ years. His current position was at Western State Envelope. He had a brilliant mind although he would never tell you that. He had the ability to see a problem on a machine and could fix it so production could continue on.
Mike was survived by all his family and friends in Charlotte, NC Charleston WV, and Buffalo NY. He will live on through his friends as we all retell his jokes, share funny stories. He blessed his wife of 26 years, with so many laughs, smiles, and love.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held at the Comet Grill (2224 Park Rd, Charlotte NC 28203) on September 28, 2024 from 2-5pm.
There will also be a “Celebration of Life” at the Courtney cemetery for friends and family on October 19, 2024 at noon.

Whittington took the reins of the Crouch Funeral Home. The growth of our service and the community's support led to our move in March 1963 to the current location—once St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, built in 1930. Our chapel, a cherished historic landmark within the storied Dilworth neighborhood, is renowned for being the only funeral home in Charlotte graced with its own chapel, echoing with decades of history and serenity....
