Services for Herbert Leslie Nye, Jr., 85, will be held at 2:30 pm, Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Gethsemane Baptist Church Lexington, South Carolina. Officiating will be Pastor Steven Williamson and Joey Ragsdale (grandson). Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington will be handling the arrangements.
Herbert Nye gained his entrance into heaven on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Herbert was born in Columbia, South Carolina on September 7, 1938. He was the son of the late, Herbert Leslie Nye and Yvonne Eitel Nye.
Herbert was an Air Force Veteran of 20 years. He served two terms in Vietnam. He suffered from agent and orange being sprayed at Vietnam.
As a husband, he was a family-oriented man, very responsible and taking care of everything in his power so that the household will be filled up with all the necessities and needs. Surely, he loved the Lord with all his heart, valued friendship, and had a very generous and tender kind heart toward others.
Survivors are his beautiful and loving wife whom he adored, Marife Alicer Nye, of West Columbia, South Carolina; daughters, Robin Ragsdale (Eric Ragsdale), Michelle Nye, Grace Alicer Soliguen (step-daughter); grandchildren, Erica Harville (Chris Harville), Joseph Ragsdale (Tiffany Ragsdale), Melissa Nye; great grandchildren, Kelsie Harville, Bryson Harville, Elijah Ragsdale; sister, Dana Alderman (Mike Alderman). Preceded in death by Herbert Leslie Nye (father), Yvonne Eitel Grieger (mother), Janet Nye (1st wife), Phil Nye (1st son), Jerry Nye (2nd son).
