Herbert H., Spradlin, 81, of Sun City Center, Fla passed away January 7, 2013. He retired with the rank of sergeant major from the United States Army after 26 years of service. He volunteered in Daleville, Alabama as a city councilman, president of Daleville Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Industrial Board. He was named Alabama's Volunteer of the Year, Man of the Year of Daleville, AL and Volunteer of the Year for the 18 State Southern Development Council. He was preceded in death by his son, Gerald D. Spradlin, who was the youngest pilot shot down in Viet Nam during the Viet Nam Conflict. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Anna and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, Fla. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 702 Valley Forge Boulevard, Sun City Center, Fla. Burial with Military Honors will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sun City Center Emergency Squad, 720 Ray Watson Drive, Sun City Center, Fla 33573.
