Herlene Spriggs

Herlene Spriggs, 82, of John’s Island entered into eternal rest on January 10, 2024 at the Life Care Center of Charleston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton & Rena Scott Russell; husband, Howard; son, David; siblings: Georgeann Pratt, Maggie Scott, Mary Francis Russell, Mary Ann Krise, Rena Mae Crummie, and Julius “Bubba” Russell; and step children: Sandy McKnight, Roger Spriggs, Sammie Spriggs, and Stanley Spriggs. She is survived by her son, Darryl (Dianne); daughter-in-law (Shannon); two grandchildren, Russell and Cara Spriggs, four sisters: Gean Scott, Linda Jochem, Darlene Creel and Lugean Russell; two step daughter-in-laws, and a host of step grandchildren. Herlene grew up in Holly Hill. When she met the love of her life, Howard, she moved to the Charleston area. She worked in the food and beverage industry for 30+ years serving patrons at Morrisons, Piccadilly, and S&S Cafeterias. In her free time, she enjoyed talking on the phone, shopping, and tending to her backyard vegetable garden. However, her greatest moments of joy were when she spent one-on-one time with her sisters.
