Herman Spero
May 8th, 2015
Herman Spero Herman S. "Mac" Spero's life story began in Saginaw, MI, on September 9, 1944. He was born to Albert and Clara Spero and grew up on the family farm with his two younger siblings, John and Alice. He was taught and learned the virtues of hard work, developed a deep faith in the Lord, and was independent, yet loyal, to his family and friends. He pioneered a trail with his wife, JoAnn at that time, with their four young children and moved to Florida with a new career - the first of several moves and adventures in his life. He forged ahead to create a life in the West, then again back to the East, where he married Pat on his 50th birthday - to whom he was happily married until his passing. Mac and Pat moved West to a new life in Eugene, OR, where they have lived for the last 15 years. He developed a church family, which he celebrated. Mac built yet another family in Leavitt's Freight Service, whom he worked for at the time of his unexpected death on April 30th. He was a mentor for others and a reliable and thoughtful man. He spoke often of his blessings, but as he traversed the country in his truck his thoughts were often turned to Pat and their dogs, Rolph and Tony. We will miss his great smile, mischievous nature, his keen mind for detail and, of course, his gift of gab. These, and many other memories, will be a comfort in his absence. He is with his Lord. He was never fearful of death, but he certainly will be missed here. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his biological sons and daughters: Jeff (Linda) Spero, Eugene, OR, Teresa (Kenny) Pittman, Eagle, ID, Alicia Spero, Boise, ID, and Sean (Heather) Spero, Boise, ID. Patricia’s children Raeline (Brian) Regan ,CT, Carlene Krabbenhoft, MN, and John Spooner, ME. Additionally, he is survived by his mother Clara Spero, Birch Run, MI, Brother John (Dianne) Spero, Birch Run, MI, and Sister Alice (James) Keene San Antonio, TX. Mac has eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren. A Memorial fund has been set up at Selco Credit Union in Mac’s name for those who wish contribute. A visitation will be held on Friday May 8th from 1:00-3:00 with a service to follow at 3:00pm at Springfield Memorial Gardens, 7305 Main St. Arrangements entrusted to West Lawn Memorial Funeral Home. Please access the obituary and you are invited to sign the guestbook at musgroves.com
