Hilda Morgan Wilds

Hilda Morgan Wilds, resident of Columbia, SC, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023. Born July 20, 1929, in Cheraw, SC, she was a daughter of the late William Battle and Viola Lide Morgan. After her childhood, she was a lifelong resident of Columbia, SC. Everyone who knew Hilda can tell you what a fun-loving person she was. She had a big heart and a real passion for things special to her. She was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. Hilda and her husband Charles were founding members of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Hilda was active in the church, along with the Wednesday Women’s Circle Group. Hilda enjoyed gardening and shopping. She also enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends, along with caring for her family and loved ones. Hilda is survived by her son, Charles Daniel “Danny” Wilds and his wife, Teresa of Chapin, SC; her brother, George L. Morgan and his wife Martha of Smithfield, NC; her sister, Patricia M. Turner of Cheraw, SC; her sister-in-law, Jo Anne Morgan of Cheraw, SC; three grandchildren, Charles Roy Wilds, Christopher Daniel Wilds and Chloe Marie Wilds. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends that were special to her. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Lori Wilds Chassereau; her brother, William Battle “Tootie” Morgan, Jr. and her sister, Sara M. Wicker. A special thanks to Brookdale at Harbison staff members, along with Three Oaks Hospice. Funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Friday, September 15th at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Columbia. The family will greet friends at the church at 11:30am prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens (5400 Bush River Rd) in Columbia, SC.
