Hope Chavez Ibarra

February 20th, 1943 - August 10th, 2024

Hope Ibarra, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on Saturday, August 10, 2024, after a courageous 10-year battle with lung cancer.

Born on February 20, 1943, in San Angelo, Texas, Hope moved to Colorado with her family at the tender age of 8. It was in Colorado that she would build a life filled with love, compassion, and unwavering strength.

Hope married the love of her life, the late Francisco Ibarra, with whom she raised three children: Nancy (and her husband, Chris Maestas), Mark, and Linda. Her family was her pride and joy, and she found immense happiness in being surrounded by them.

Later in life, Hope pursued her passion for caring for others and became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Her dedication and kindness touched countless lives as she served as a hardworking and compassionate caregiver for many years.

Hope had a smile that could light up any room, and her warm, loving presence brought joy to everyone around her. Her favorite color was purple, and she had a deep love for Western movies and TV shows like *The Young & The Restless*, *Wheel of Fortune*, *Price is Right*, and Joel Osteen’s sermons. She also enjoyed the rhythm of Tejano music and never missed an opportunity to dance.

Hope found solace in her daily devotion, *The Upper Room*, and cherished moments spent shopping at thrift stores, visiting the mountains, and enjoying crab legs at the casinos. These simple pleasures were the fabric of her life, stitched together with love and laughter.

Above all, Hope was devoted to her family, which grew to include seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She delighted in sharing stories of her youth with them, passing down wisdom and love through the generations.

For the past 28 years, Hope shared her life and home with her dear companion and domestic partner, George Telmanik. Together, they created a home filled with memories and a wall of family pictures that told the story of the families’ shared journey.

To the world, Hope was a mother and grandmother, but to our family, she was the world. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and unbreakable bonds. She leaves us with a heart full of cherished memories and a family forever marked by her grace and kindness.

Hope will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her.

There will be a private graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Friday August 16th, 2024 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Greeley VFW Post 2121 2514 7th Ave.
