On Monday September 13, 2010 at the V.A. Hospital in Washington, DC, Howard John Hubbard of Silver Spring, MD. Born January 20, 1940 in Baltimore MD he joined the service at the age of 21. A Purple Heart recipient, he served three tours in Vietnam. During his third tour in 1972 he met his wife of 38 years Ran Hubbard. He has two beautiful children, son Bruce Pham and a daughter Lisa Hubbard. He also is survived by 2 beautiful granddaughters. Howard Hubbard was a father, husband, grandfather, and great friend. He would give you the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his pocket. He was the kind of man that if you met him once, you would never forget him. He has done so much in his life of 70 years and will truly be missed. He never said a bad thing about anyone and he forgave in the same manner. His heart was pure and full of love. He appreciated the little things in life and enjoyed everyday he lived. He loved sports and country music. He loved television as well. Howard Hubbard was respected by many and acquired the nickname "Hub" during his service years. He retired from the army in 1982 as a SFC (Sergeant First Class). He worked for the Department of Defense for approximately 20 years, before he lost his leg in 2001. From there he was forced to medically retire from his job in 2002 with honors and he received awards for recognition of dedication and hard work for the Department of Defense. Friends may call at Rapp Funeral & Cremation Service 933 Gist Avenue, Silver Spring, MD on Saturday September 25 from 12 noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. Interment and military honors will be private at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
