Howard Budwin Larsen

Howard (Bud) (Sonny) Budwin Larsen died March 7, 2020, in the Albuquerque VA Hospital. Born July 14, 1938, to Nan Biffle Larsen and Bud Larsen in Albuquerque, NM. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School, Washington Jr High, and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1956. He served in the Marine Corps from 1956-1958 in Japan with 4 years in the Marine Reserves. As a kid, he loved to ride his bicycle on the west mesa, catch cat fish in the clear ditch, spend summers with relatives on farms around Grenville, NM, and see westerns, musicals, comedies, documentaries, and film noir movies at the Chief, Rio, Kimo, and El Rey Theaters. He enjoyed going to the Alvarado Hotel to watch the trains and visit the exquisite gardens with fig trees and gold fish. Bud was a renaissance man. He was a hair stylist with his mother at Bea's Beauty Shop, an Arthur Murray dance instructor, a physical trainer at Vic Tanny's, and he worked as a pipe fitter with the Pipe Fitters Local #412. He had a flair for etching and building model airplanes. He loved to play golf, visit, hunt, and go to lunch with his friends - Robert, Tim, Joe, Duane, Paul, Ann, Malinda, Shirley, Allen, Sandy, Clemente, Roscoe, Collin, Pam, Kim, Carla, Jim, Fabian, and many others. Bud's parents and daughter, Lainie Simone, preceded him in death. His grandson, Dax Cumbie, passed away on March 27th. He is survived by his sister, Shirley Larsen Anderson, grandson, Gage Cumbie, great grandson, Chase Wood Cumbie, nephew, David Anderson and wife Birgit, great nephews, Kai & Toren, great niece, Aurelie, and niece, Amber Anderson and husband Shawn O'Brien, and great nieces, Teagan and Zoe. Bud enjoyed his farm in the South Valley. He had chickens, turkeys, numerous fruit trees, vegetables, grapes, hay, and a bountiful pecan tree, He shared his produce with friends. If you look closely in the film, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, his blue house, back pasture and his tractor are seen in the last scene of the film. Bud will be buried in the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
