Howard Campbell Newsome
January 11th, 1930 - May 6th, 2014

Howard Newsome Howard Campbell Newsome, 84 years old, passed away on May 6, 2014 in Melbourne, Florida, where he had lived since 2007, after moving from Cumberland, Rhode Island. Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to Frederick Newsome and Elizabeth Campbell. He was survived by his sister, Inez Klockars of North Smithfield, Rhode Island. He was pre-deceased by his wife Gloria H. Welles, and his second wife Sheila M. Scarano. He and Gloria had three children together. Survived by two daughters, and one son. Deborah A. Piluri from Scottsdale, AZ, Cheryl L. King from Melbourne, FL, and David H. Newsome from Flower Mound, TX. Also, one daughter -in-law, Marissa Newsome of TX., two son-in-laws, Dennis Piluri of Scottsdale, AZ., and Michael King of Melbourne, Fl. Two grandsons, Dagan and Tristan in TX., two granddaughters, Kristin and Stacey in AZ ,and two great-grandsons, Sam and Seth in AZ. He served in the Korean War on the USS Conway Destroyer Escort,DDE507. In 2005, he was presented the All Stars Award from Woonsocket High School for his football playing in 1946. In years past, he was the President at the Buttonwoods Campground Association, where our family spent our summers in Warwick, Rhode Island. He worked for over 40 years for Honeywell, Inc.in Boston, MA., where he was in sales, service and management. He was awarded the prestigious Lund Award in 1990 from the Honeywell Industrial, Automation and Control Division. After semi-retiring, he continued to work part time for Industronics in South Windsor, CT. When he did retire, he was named by us all the " President of the Home Office ". He also served on the Board of Directors for The Villas of Suntree, HOA., where he lived and worked diligently serving his community. He loved golf, music and socializing with family and friends. He was an active member of the Suntree United Methodist Church in Melbourne. Many local residents in Melbourne, knew my Dad as the man who would ask you " Do Chickens have Lips ? and maybe, even called you " Banana" !. A Memorial Service will be on June 14, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Suntree United Methodist Church at 7400 N. Wickham Road in Melbourne, Fl. 32940. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Congregational Care at the Suntree United Methodist Church, or the charity of your own choice. You may sign Howard's [email protected] and a webcasting of the service will be broadcast over this site for 30 days following the service.
