Hubert J Anderson

Hubert John Anderson is in heaven with his Lord and Savior as well as many family members and friends who have led him home after his death on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in Green Valley, AZ. Hubert (also known as Andy and Hugh) was the third son of six boys. He was born in Chicago, IL to Arvid and Hanna Anderson on January 14, 1926. The family ultimately moved to Mason, Wisconsin where Hubert attended Peterson Spur School, a one room schoolhouse, through the eighth grade. He graduated from Ashland High School in Ashland, Wisconsin in 1943. After high school, he went to work on ore boats traveling Lake Superior until he could enlist in the Army during World War II. He went through basic training at North Camp Hood, Texas and ultimately served in France and Germany in an ordinance unit repairing equipment. His company, 3433 HAM, was attached to the Third Army under General George Patton. He had the privilege of attending a chapel service where General Patton was present in Regensburg, Germany. One of the highlights of his life was participating in a Stars and Stripes Honor Flight in 2011 to see the WW2 Memorial in Washington, D.C. Hubert used the GI bill to attend and graduate from Marquette University; he majored in Mechanical Engineering. While there, he attended Central United Methodist Church where he met his future wife, Joyce. They were married in 1949 and enjoyed 46 years of marriage until her death in 1995. They had five children and years full of meaningful work and building a home, participating faithfully in many ways at Gethsemane United Methodist Church (where he was a member for over 60 years), camping, vacations, and retirement. Hubert worked for several engineering firms and ultimately retired from AO Smith in Milwaukee, WI where he specialized in design work. You may have noticed AO Smith blue silos in farm country. He designed the machine which allowed the metal on the silo to curve. After retiring, he joined Scott Industries in Pewaukee, WI and continued to design equipment to make their products as well as coach young engineers. Hubert's life involved service to home, family, church and community. Hubert and his dad built their Pewaukee home. He was a loving husband and father, and the children grew up thinking everyone's dad played the guitar and sang to them at bedtime. He served in a leadership role at Gethsemane United Methodist Church not only in the way he served the church but also in the way he lived his life. When asked how he would like to be remembered, he said, "as a friendly guy." Hubert went to night school to obtain his Master's degree in Engineering Management from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He was also involved at different times in the Gethsemane United Methodist Church choir, Waukesha Optimists, Waukesha Choral Union, Ambassadors of Harmony (a barbershop chorus), Habitat for Humanity, and he delivered Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, and he avidly followed Wisconsin sports. He hunted deer in the Mason, Wisconsin area for over 60 years. Hubert and Nancy knew each other at Gethsemane for many years. God granted them a season of love when they married in 1997. They had an opportunity to serve God through several mission trips. They wintered in Arizona for several years, and in May 2016 became permanent residents in Green Valley, AZ. They were active in the United Methodist Church of Green Valley choir. It was an honor for Nancy to see him through his last days. Hubert is survived by his wife, Nancy; his brother, Roy (Hildur) of Janesville, WI; children: son, Paul (Marion) of Muskego, WI and their children, Lauren of Washington, D.C. and Peter of Arlington, VA; daughter, Kristine of Elcho, WI (special friend Paul); daughter, Linda (Dennis) of Muskego, WI and their children Jennifer of Muskego, WI; Jeffrey (Gina) and their children Lucita and Huey of Los Angeles, CA; Christine (Christian) and their children Leia, Jude, and Zaina of New Berlin, WI; daughter, Karen (Art) of Waukesha, WI and their children Leah (Mike) Probst of Waukesha, WI and Ryan of Milwaukee, WI; son Mark (Ronda) and their children Brett and Rachel of Pewaukee, WI; sister-in-law Marilyn (Richland Center, WI), and brother-in-law Dale (Debbie) Winters (Marietta, OH). He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. Hubert was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Joyce Ellen Neumann Anderson; parents Arvid and Hanna Anderson; brothers Hugo, Harry (and wife Betty), Harold (and wife Carol), Carl (and wife Betty); and sweet baby grandson Jonathan Andrew. The first visitation for Hubert will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017, from 4:00 PM until 6:00PM at the Cesarz, Charapata, and Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188. A second visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017, from 10:00AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00AM at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 642 Main Street, Pewaukee, WI 53072. A time of sharing will immediately follow the service. Private burial with Military Honors will be held at Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin. Hubert would encourage everyone to wear out, not rust out; be persistent; keep after the creeping charlie and the buckthorn; and read Psalm 121 often!
