Hubert "Hubie" Burghardt, 79, formerly of Melbourne, Florida passed away peacefully at home September 19th. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Elene Albert; his step-children, Michelle Mohr and Brandon Mohr; step-granddaughter, Baylee; former wife, Audrey Burghardt; his children, Jeffrey Burghardt, Douglas Burghardt (daughter-in-law Jill), and Christine Fleis (son-in-law Jerry). Also surviving him are his grandchildren Brandon, Aimee, Amber, Christopher, Aaron, Katelyn, Matthew, and Jessica. He was predeceased by his eldest daughter, Susan Burghardt. A Hackensack High grad from New Jersey, he joined the Naval Reserve (Submarine Division) in Brooklyn, and joined the National Guard where he was awarded the Medal of Merit. His design career started as a graphic specialist for the Port of New York Authority designing highway systems and map charts. He served the Brevard County Association for Retarded Children, Inc. as 1st Vice President and President and was on the board for the Brevard County Mental Health Centers. He was employed as a draftsman/designer for Pan Am, RCA, GE, and CSR. So many words describe Hubie: conscientious, sensitive, patient, hard working, and easy going, strong, brave, talented, and respectful. Most of all, he was a loving gentleman. He will be missed.
