January 14th, 1943 - April 7th, 2024
Hugh Robert Boyle was born January 14, 1943, to Hugh W. & Roberta B. Boyle in Portland, OR. He attended Canby grade schools and graduated from Canby High School in 1962. He served his country in the Oregon Army National Guard from 1966 to 1977.
Hugh worked several years at Ritter’s Body Shop before changing vocations. In 1982, he started his own business as Hugh’s Ceramic Tile and continued working until his retirement. He was a member of the Macksburg Gun Club for many years, a Life Member of Canby Rod and Gun Club and Macksburg Lutheran Church.
Hugh’s true passion lied in the wild places where he met his future father-in-law and the love of his life, Roberta in 1952. He was an accomplished hunter and marksman, having many adventures with his wife Roberta while providing food for his family and friends. Beyond hunting season, people would travel from miles around trying to gain access to his smokehouse. Later in life, Hugh was blessed with four grandsons in Alaska, where he and Roberta traveled and hunted. He instilled a deep respect of the outdoors in his boys and grandkids that will remain long after his mortal remains are laid to rest. He was quick to feed anybody who would grace his table and was known for his generosity and willingness to help those in need.
Hugh is survived by his wife of 57 years, Roberta; his sons and their wives, Scott, Mark, Jamie, and Shannon; grandsons Cooper, Owen, Tyler and Hugh; 5 brothers and sisters John, Jim, Kathleen, Kristeen and Karen……and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ronald McDonald House in honor of his grandson Owen, who has fought and survived Ewing’s sarcoma with the organization’s support.
