Ian Haislip McNair
January 8th, 1990 - April 14th, 2021
Ian Haislip McNair of McLean, VA passed away on the evening of Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the age of 31. He was born on January 8, 1990 in Washington D.C. at the former Columbia Hospital for Women and raised in a loving home in McLean, VA. Ian is the son of Frederick V. McNair IV of Annapolis, MD and Linda Haislip Mowery of McLean, VA. Ian graduated from Langley High School in 2008 and completed his studies at Tidewater Community College in 2011. He furthered his education in pursuit of his passion for the culinary arts. Ian had a special appreciation for nature, literature and music. He was most at home in nature, and would often explore new hiking trails. He was a gifted writer and poet--it was a dream of his to have his poetry published. Ian was also an avid connoisseur of music. He especially appreciated the lyrics to songs, which he would frequently share. His family and friends remember Ian for his heart of gold. He showed a servant’s heart of kindness, gentleness and goodness towards those in his life. Stories have been flowing in from friends about his loyalty and thoughtfulness. We all share sweet memories of Ian's smile which would light up the room, his loving heart, and his genuine nature. Ian is survived by his parents and stepfather, Brent Mowery; his only surviving grandmother, Parveen Bakhtiar McNair of Chevy Chase, MD; his sister, Alexandra McNair Quinn, and brother-in-law Don Quinn of Portsmouth, NH; his brother, Freddy McNair V of Washington, DC; and his brother, Seth McNair of Honolulu, HI. He will be missed dearly by his extended family of eight uncles, two aunts, and 21 first cousins. Memorial services begin with the first visitation on Sunday, April 18th, from 3PM to 7PM at Advent Funeral Home, 7211 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22046.
