We say goodbye to our beloved mother, grand mother and great grandmother Ida Katz, 98. Ida was born in New York City, the eldest of the 4 children of Dora and Nathan Gropper. She married William Katz in 1934. They moved to Los Angeles in 1965 and retired to Santa Barbara to be closer to grandchildren in 1970. William Katz predeceased Ida in 1988. Ida was an active member of Congregation B?nai Brith and Hadassah and a volunteer for several charities. She was positive, friendly and capable and loved by all who knew her. She was an enthusiastic grandmother and great grandmother. Ida is survived by her children Judith Bernstein (Burt) and Philip Katz, by grandchildren Dina Howard (Ed) and Mara Bernstein (Michael) and great grandchildren Noah, Maya, Adiella and Asher, sister Rona Sherlock and brother Arthur Gropper and many nieces and nephews. Funeral at Goleta Cemetery, Friday, Oct. 21 at 2:00 pm.
