Indian Joe Hendricks
September 8th, 1944 - August 6th, 2007
Indian Joe Hendricks HENDRICKS, Indian Joe, 62, commercial fisherman, amateur anthropologist, and lover of nature and all Indian lore, left this earth to walk the hills and fish the lakes of glory August 6, 2007, after a valiant battle with laryngeal cancer. He was born Sept 8, 1944, to Ila Mae Mead Hendricks and Joseph Burdell Hendricks in Bradenton, Fla. Indian Joe lived in Palmetto, Fla., and traveled much of the world until 15 years ago, when he settled in Plant City, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruby Hendricks Tingin; and a brother, Ernest James Hadley. Indian Joe is survived by his wife, Barbara Batson Hendricks; two daughters, Frankie Lynn Hendricks Schleif of Plant City and Mary Batson Click of Verona, Mo.; three sons, Joseph Burdell Hendricks of Bristol, Tenn., James Edward "Eddie" Hendricks of Seffner, Fla., and Steven Howard Batson of Aurora, MO.; one granddaughter; and two grandsons. He also leaves behind three sisters, Orie Mayceile Mills of Soap Lake, Wash., Charlotte Hendricks Johnson of Plant City, and Sandra Hendricks Schleif of Franklinton, La.; as well as a large extended family.
