Ira George March went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2013. Ira was born in Kansas on May 2, 1925 to George and Effie March. He served in the US Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1946 as a ship's cook First Class Petty Officer. After serving in the navy he attended Glad Tidings Bible College. In 1949 he traveled to Canada on a ministry trip, and there he met and married Patricia Swaan on December 9, 1949. In 1952 they moved to Sutter Creek where Ira built the family home. Ira worked for over 40 years in the lumber industry. He was working as a sawyer for American Forest Products in the lumber mill when he retired. Ira was a dedicated Christian which earned him the nickname "The Preacher" at his work. Even in his final months at Kit Carson Nursing and Rehabilitation he enjoyed telling people about Jesus Christ and praying with them. Ira loved Amador County and considered it God's country. He loved his family and was very proud of his grandchildren. Ira is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, George and Susan March of Stockton and their children Joseph, Mary, and Jennifer; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Lana March of Yuba City and their children John and Andrew; daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Bill King of Ione and their children Rebecca, Nicholas, Adam, and Caitlyn. He is also survived by his sister, Jessie Budmark of Stockton; and four great-grandchildren. Ira was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia March; son, Phillip March; brothers, John March and John Lee Cowen; and sister, Irene Sutlage and Ellen Martin. Ira's family would like to thank the staff at Kit Carson Nursing and Rehabilitation for the care he received. "And with your final heartbeat Kiss the world goodbye Then go in peace, and laugh on glory's side, and Fly to Jesus Fly to Jesus Fly to Jesus and live!" Friends are invited to attend a visitation Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Daneri Mortuary, 415 Broadway in Jackson.
