Irene Dunne

Irene Grace Dunne, age 69, of Viera passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born October 5, 1946 to Mary (Colton) and Kalman Dunne in Morristown, NJ. Irene graduated from Dover High School in 1964. She then graduated from Chubb Institute as a computer programmer. Irene continued her education at County College of Morris, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and finally at the University of California Los Angeles. She programmed her way from Parsippany, NJ to an executive position at an ad agency in Manhattan, to project manager in San Jose, CA to a VP, MIS in Los Angeles. Later she moved to San Antonio, TX where she took a position as the Executive Secretary to the President of Our Lady of the Lake University. She then retired near her sister in Viera, FL where she volunteered her time at the Health First Hospital Viera. She spent her free time enjoying the wildlife at the Viera Wetlands, playing Mahjong with her friends, and stitching. Irene was an active and accomplished member of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America. Irene is survived by her two daughters Erin Shepley (husband Ken) of Eastport, MI and Shawn Smythe (husband Graham) of San Antonio, TX, 4 grandchildren, Tayt, Rees, Tommy, and Tyler, siblings Gail (husband Barry) Golko and Kal (wife Wynn) Dunne. Irene was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
