Memorial

“Irene Dorothea Tittel, 91, passed away quietly and comfortably in her own bed on October 19th, 2011 in Thornton, Colorado with her family by her side. Born to Alexander Stoppel and Sophia (nee Bisterfeldt) in Trego County, Kansas on Saturday, August 21, 1920. She was the daughter of German-Russian immigrants and raised in the west central plains and farmlands of Kansas during the depression and post-depression periods. These circumstances contributed to her growing up into the values of patient endurance, steadfastness, deep faith, finding pleasure in simple things, quiet and personal celebrations, and simple humor peppered with surprisingly sophisticated insights. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, Trego Center, Kansas on Sunday, November 21, 1920 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the same church on Sunday, July 7, 1935. She was a member of various Lutheran churches throughout her lifetime, notably Zion Lutheran Church, Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Santa Barbara, CA, Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lompoc, CA and Saint Stephen
