Irene Zuniga – beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend – passed peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, just one day before her 53rd birthday. She was born in Lubbock, Texas on September 22, 1968, to Pablo P. Vasquez and Consuelo G. Vasquez. Irene is the mother to seven beautiful children, two of whom she is now with. They were her most precious treasures and being their mom was a venture she took very earnestly. Not only did her kids call her “Mom”, but many of their friends did too. She was very welcoming and took anyone under her wing that needed the unconditional love that she had to offer. She was the kind of mom that told you what you needed to hear and not what you wanted to hear, because she knew how important that was. Her life revolved around her children, and even more so, her grandchildren who were her bright lights of sunshine. She enjoyed spending her time crocheting, singing, watching TV shows and movies, listening to music, barbecues with family, and most of all, spending time with her cherished grandbabies who she would do anything for. She loved to spoil them with gifts, love, and most importantly, time. Her borrowed time her on this earth may have been short, but it was unquestionably meaningful, as she leaves behind many memories of affectionate hugs and advice, given with immeasurable love and wisdom. Her compassion and giving heart will be painfully missed and her absence will be noticed continuously. Irene is survived by her children: Angelica (Josh) Melendez, Andres Zuniga Jr., Brianna Zuniga, Jose Landeros Jr., and Omar Landeros; grandchildren: Abigail Vasquez, Aunika Vasquez, Elinayah Razo, Kai Melendez, Ava Melendez, Silas Zuniga, and Lorenzo Ortega; sisters, Mary (Jose) Tijerina and Oralia Vaquez; brother, Gilbert Vasquez; as well as many nieces and nephews that she claimed as her own. Her two beautiful babies, Michael Vasquez and Britanya Vasquez, welcomed her into Heaven with open arms. She has also joined her father, Pablo P. Vasquez and her maternal grandparents, Ramon Garza Sr. and Maria de Jesus Rios Garza. A viewing will take place on Monday, October 4th from 5-8:00 p.m. at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd. in Caldwell. A Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 5th at 2:30 p.m. at Flahiff Funeral Chapel. A private burial will take place at Canyon Hill Cemetery. Memories may be left for family on Irene’s page at www.flahifffuneralchapel.com.
