Irma Webb was born in Nelson County, KY, near Bardstown, on October 14, 1925. She lived in the Louisville, KY, area for many years. Following her education at Cincinnati Art Academy, Irma began her art career as a commercial artist and worked as a designer for Gibson Art Co., Cincinnati, OH, (greeting cards); L.M. Berry Co. (yellow page ads) and Stewart’s Dept. Store (fashion ads), Louisville. Thereafter, Irma focused her art career on fine art, becoming an award-winning fine artist who specialized in portraits and achieved the level of Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America. Irma was a charter member of the KY Watercolor Society as well as a charter member and secretary of the Palette Club of Louisville, an organization to promote amateur and professional artists in the Louisville area. She taught art classes in several states. Irma later moved to Spartanburg, SC, and Kingsport, TN. She served as a volunteer in literacy programs, nursing homes, and artists’ guilds in Spartanburg and Kingsport. In addition to her support for the visual arts, Irma had an avid interest in world affairs and a lifelong concern for people of the world and for animals. Irma loved to travel, and her travels often became the inspiration for her artwork. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for nearly fifty years. She was a member of Cassidy United Methodist Church, Kingsport. Irma is survived by her husband, Alan McGlinn Webb, to whom she was married for more than 24 years. She is survived by four stepdaughters: Cathy Webb, Eugene, OR; Stella and Rob Trueblood, Denver, CO; Elizabeth and Mike Schleppy, Rand, CO; and Angela and Steve Seipp, Bennett, CO. She is survived by three nieces and one nephew: Pam and Phil Watson, Atlanta, GA; Karen and Charlie Cox, Kingsport, TN; Denise and Chad Varga, Chattanooga, TN; and Kevin and Lynn La Croix, Lyman, SC. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews and many cousins. Irma was predeceased by her first husband, Carl Louis Pfannmoeller, to whom she was married for 26 years. She was also predeceased by her sister, Thelma Pottinger Parham. She was the daughter of Curtis Millard Pottinger and Varina Vittitow Pottinger. To honor Irma’s wishes, her remains were cremated.
