Irwin "Irv" W. Unger
November 28th, 1927 - October 5th, 2013
Unger, Irwin William "Irv", 85, of St Petersburg, died Saturday, October 5, 2013, after a short illness at St. Anthony's Hospital. Irv was born and raised in Chicago, the younger child of Aaron and Estelle. He graduated with a journalism degree from the University of Illinois and served in the US Air Force. He had a long career in television advertising sales, most recently with stations WGN/Chicago and WTOG/St. Petersburg. He loved to play tennis, golf and cards at Feathersound Country Club. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Cubs, Bears and Florida State Seminoles. As a younger man he played softball in the Chicago City Leagues. A devoted father to Julie (Gus) Goding of Asheville. NC and Laura Unger of St. Petersburg. Irv was a dear brother to Elaine Brooks and loving uncle to Mindy (Gary) Galinski and Barry Brooks and "Papa" to grandchildren Savannah and McColl. Irv was also survived by his friend and companion, Margo Hart. A Celebration of Life will be held later in November.
