Isabel Marie Golden

On February 12, 2018, Isabel Marie Golden left this life for a place in Heaven, joining her husband of 64 years, Robert Golden, her mother and father, Joseph and Josephine DeLapa, Clyde and Garnet Golden, and her other family members: Mary Golden Siegrist, Angela Swiger, Jo Cleavenger Elwart, Jean Fernandez, and John DeLapa. Marie leaves behind her three children: Joseph Golden, Robert (and Elaine) Golden, and Sondra Golden Viers as well as her brother James DeLapa (and wife Judy), sister Paula Julian (and husband Tony), sister Anne Pinti, and brother-in-law Al Golden (and wife Faith).For the last three years, Marie was welcomed into her son's home in Weddington, N.C. where he and his wife Elaine surrounded her with excellent, Christian, loving care. Before this time, Marie enjoyed living among the best of neighbors, Tom and Corrine, Brauni and Kathy on Meadowlark Lane in Sun City Center, Florida. While living in Sun City Center, Marie and her husband Bob were part of the Gad-Abouts, enjoyed square dancing, and traveled to several states and countries together. Before dementia invaded her life, Marie was a wonderful cook and an avid learner, dabbling in tap dancing, clowning, needlepoint, Mahjong, painting, and jewelery-making. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Sons of Italy Marconi Lodge in Clarksburg, W.Va. Marie was a devoted family member leaving behind grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her and recall a great number of stories of how her love for them impacted their lives. A memorial celebration of Marie's life will take place in Clarksburg, W.Va in early June. The family asks that any donations be sent to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd. Monroe, N.C. 28100, (and designated to the McWhorter House).
