Isabel R. “Chabelo” Ramirez, 86, of Milliken passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Medical Center of the Rockies. He was born November 19, 1935, In Kenedy, Texas to Geronimo and Benita (Mireles) Ramirez. Isabel grew up in Valle Hermoso, Mexico. On July 30, 1956, he married Juanita Padilla in Valle Hermoso, Mexico. In 1968 the couple moved to Mission, Texas. They were migrant workers and traveled all over the United States with Colorado as their last stop before traveling back to Texas. In 1974, they decided to make Colorado their permanent home and in 1975 they built their family home in Milliken where he lived happily until his passing. In 1975 he began working at Longmont Foods along with his wife. He retired after 26 years of employment. After retiring he and his wife loved to go to garage sales and purchase household items, appliances, and clothes. His favorite thing to buy were old lawnmowers and he never met a broken lawnmower that he couldn’t fix. They converted their garage to a permanent garage sale and were a great community resource. They frequently gave things away to people relocating from Mexico that had nothing but clothes on their back. He was very outgoing and always had a kind word and a smile for everyone he met. His 1974 Ford pickup truck was his pride and joy. He loved the Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of Fuente De Vida Church in Milliken. Isabel is survived by his children, Irene Gilman and husband Alonzo of Berthoud, Esmeralda Ray and husband Robert of Greeley, Teresa Garcia and husband Richard of Oklahoma City, OK, and Abel Ramirez, Jr. And wife Kathi of Milliken; his grandchildren, Tito Gilman, Dusty Gilman, Jessica Ray, Rebecca Bergstrom, Richard Garcia, Jr., Anthony Garcia, Joshua Garcia, Rebekah Garcia, and Mateos Ramirez; 12 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Juan Ramirez, Guadalupe Ramirez, Antonia Arredondo, Jose Ramirez, Geronimo Ramirez, Salomon Ramirez, and Pedro Ramirez.
