"Cape Coral, FL-Isla Mae "Kitty" Crane, age 91, passed away on October 17, 2012 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. She had been a resident at Orchard Valley in Wilbraham, MA since February 2012. Born in Perdido, Al, to Robert and Dausie Carr in 1921 she was one of 6 children and grew up on a farm in Alabama. After high school she moved to Pensacola, FL where she went to secretarial school, worked and met her husband Forrest "Frosty" Crane who was a Naval Aviator. They were married in 1942 in Pensicola, FL. After World War II they settled in Columbia, Missouri where Kitty worked as a secretary for her husband who was a District Manager for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company from 1949 to 1983. In 1983 they retired and moved to Cape Coral, Florida where Kitty lived until last February. Her husband died in 2005 in Cape Coral. Fl. She has one surviving sister, Myrtice Long, who lives in Springfield, Missouri. Forrest and Kitty had 2 children, 6 grand children and 14 great grand children. Their daughter, Joyce Alexander, is married to William C. Alexander and they live in Cape Coral, FL and have 4 grown children Alisa, Brock, David, and John. Their son John Crane is married to Joy C. Crane lives in Wilbraham, MA - John's children are Justin and Chelsea and Joy's children are Sarah and Caitlin Dubois. Forrest and Kitty were active members of the Episcopal Churches in Columbia, MO and Cape Coral, Fl and enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and dancing. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Cape Coral, Florida where Kitty's ashes will be interred with her husbands at the Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church cremation garden in Cape Coral, FL. On Wednesday Oct. 24, a visitation from 10:30-11:30 a.m. will be held at Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N.Main St. followed by a memorial service beginning at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a gift can be made to your food bank of choice.
