Ivan Vincent Nelms, 92, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Monday, April 4, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Nelms was born June 22, 1918 in Jamaica, West Indies to Henry and Emily (nee Brumley) Nelms and moved to this area 21 years ago from Queens, New York. Mr. Nelms worked as a store manager at a furniture store and was a member of Port Charlotte United Methodist Church in Port Charlotte. Mr. Nelms is survived by his loving wife, Gloria V. (nee DePass) Nelms of Port Charlotte; and numerous nieces and nephews including niece, Mavis Satchwell and grand-nephew, Egland Nelms. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, April 18, 2011 at Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, 21075 Quesada Avenue in Port Charlotte.
