Mrs. Ivy Darlington, 93 passed away peacefully on October 14, 2023 at the Stewart Center of Cypress. She was born August 25, 1930 in Manchester, England where she lived until she and her husband Frank came to the United States in 1955. While in England, she was baptized along with her husband on August 15, 1951, becoming a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She spent her entire life as a dedicated follower of our Heavenly Father. As a member she served for decades as a Sunday school teacher, Relief Society President and a Relief Society teacher. Teaching the ladies of the church lesson about the gospel as well as interior designing and homemaking classes. At the young age of 6 she taught her self how to knit and do needlepoint, making many sweaters, hats or slippers for her family or friends. Ivy was a loving and faithful wife to her husband Frank for 57 years at his time of passing in 2007. Along with their love of the gospel, they shared many years of traveling through out Europe. After moving to the US, she spent many years joining her husband on business trips all over the world, sometimes enjoying an original Broadway play or production. In 1955 she was asked by the Charlotte Observer to do an interview for the “For and About Women” section. The article gave an insight into how she and Frank traveled from France, Switzerland, Germany and Italy for only $900 via hitchhiking and staying in Youth Hostels. She was contacted again by the Observer in 1977 for the “Food Guide Page”. Where she shared the process of how she taught herself to make yogurt from scratch. Once she had children she spent several years traveling with them to England and Ireland to visit family. Her favorite past times were going to the beach where she loved to walk for hours, doing jigsaw puzzles or making jewelry for family and friends. Ivy was a loving wife and mom who spent her life raising her 2 children. Once a grandmother of 4 she loved to share time with them, be it doing her puzzles, sharing her life stories or words of wisdom. Later on some of her greatest joys were the times she spent with her great grandchildren, while singing a special song. Ivy is preceded in death by her late husband Frank Darlington of Charlotte and her sister Elsie Warburton of Manchester, England. She leaves behind her son Peter Darlington (wife Treva) of Weddington and daughter Pam Berg (husband Dwight) of Charlotte.
