J. Michael Jones

Jim Jones (J. Michael Jones), formerly James Michael Allen, born February 21, 1970 passed away peacefully on March 2, 2006 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Jim is a native of this region and lived in several locations in the Tacoma area. Jim is survived by his wife Janeen, his parents Clarence and Valerie Oleson, brothers Jeff Allen and Jason Oleson, sister Nicole Brewer, son Brook Jones, Daughter Jessica Hill and many Aunts, Uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. Jim had a multitude of friends, some who were as close as family. Jim had a passion for life, music and art. He played guitar at many open mic sessions at The Antique Sandwich Co. in Ruston, often donated time and volunteered for community needs, such as construction of the New Ruston Police Department building, and helping elderly folks in need. Jim attended Tanwax Country Chapel this past year and as his health allowed, he served on the worship team with his happy spirit and musical talent. He was a prankster and loved to make people laugh. Jim made a special effort to keep from judging others, his care and concern for people was uncommon, he genuinely desired to help others. His generosity was as large as life. Jim was a determined individual and an aggressive problem solver. He really liked things to be done right. He was a model of selflessness. After he learned of his cancer and diminishing opportunity for long life, his primary concern was for others and how they would do with his departure. He wanted to be available to help these treasured loved ones. Jim worked at Various occupations from commercial fishing to pulling boards on the green chain for Mahnke Lumber. His primary work was in the painting trade. He could point out project after project, homes and businesses he’d painted, all of which he spoke about with a slight amount of pride or accomplishment. His work was always of excellent quality. Having worked with T.C.P. and Long, Jim finally started his own company, Colorsong Coatings, while still employed at Long where he served as a painting foreman. Jim had several passions in his life, he loved to run and belonged to the Fort Steilacoom Running Club, and ran in the Sound To Narrows race several times. He served as a Life-Guard and counselor for the YMCA, loved to skateboard, down hill ski, go biking, and camping was a definite enjoyment. Besides various sporting activities, his passion was evident for his children whom he loved very much. Janeen, his new bride, was maybe his most passionate passion. Their romance was a valued treasure. Less subtle, but definitely present in his life, was a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Having asked God for forgiveness of sin resulting in eternal life, Jim’s personal faith happened long before his own life seemed to be in jeopardy. As a person of high integrity and honesty, Jim’s view of Christianity had cloudy and sometimes stormy days with the all-too-possible examples of other believers who failed to follow Christ faithfully according to God’s word. In keeping with his own commitment to “Do it right” Jim renewed his commitment to Christ in April. His faith was real and he was confident of his eternal destination. He had peace, the peace that passes all understanding. One of his concerns was for family and friends who had not come to know God personally. Jim loved family and friends and wanted to tell each one how he appreciated their part in his life. His life may have been short, but he packed it full with people and things of eternal worth. A memorial service is planned at 2:00pm on Sunday (3/5/06) at Tanwax Country Chapel 36417 Mtn. Hwy. Eatonville.
