J. Vincent Jowett

J. Vincent "Vince" Jowett passed away peacefully with his family present on Wednesday September 28, 2011 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY. Born in Watertown, NY on July 19, 1928 he was the son of the late Joseph Wesley Jowett and Caroline Amans Jowett. Vincent was a 1945 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and later a graduate of Paul Smith's College. He worked as a Civil Engineer on various projects in the Capital District in upstate New York until his retirement. On July 3, 1949 he was united in marriage to Helen Sample. Vince was a member of the Amsterdam Lodge F&AM and served proudly with the United States Army following WWII. Dearly loved and sadly missed by family and friends; Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Helen Jowett; one son, Jack J. Jowett of Selkirk, NY; three daughters, Susan J Romsiewicz and her husband Leo of Kennesaw GA; Patricia A. Jowett of Syracuse, NY and Anne J.Gold and her husband Andrew Gold of New Rochelle, NY; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by one sister and two brothers. Though Vince is no longer with us, the space he leaves behind is indelibly imprinted with his values, it resonates for all of us who strive to think clearly, to live simply, and to love friends and family deeply. The Service of Remembrance is private and at the convenience of the family.
