Jack E. Amyx
December 4th, 1946 - March 9th, 2014
Jack E. Amyx, 67, of Church Hill, went to meet his children early Sunday morning (March 9, 2014) at his residence. He spent his entire working life in the paving industry having retired from Pave-Well Paving as a Supervisor. He enjoyed farming. He especially enjoyed raising and spending time with all the children in his life. Jack was proud to have fostered 87 children and 9 foreign exchange students during his 26 years as a foster parent in Hawkins County. He also adopted 4 children along with having his 4 biological children. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his children, Tony Martin, Jackie Lynn Amyx, Adam Joseph Amyx; a granddaughter, Megan Nichole Amyx; his father, Frank Amyx; a sister, Doris Jean Amyx. Jack Amyx is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ray Amyx; his sons, Jeff Amyx, Tony Amyx, Billy Amyx, and Chris Amyx; a daughter, Tamara Amyx Jobe; a very special granddaughter, Taylor Amyx; three special grandchildren, Alli Fraysier, Hunter Ford and Jake Amyx; along with several additional grandchildren; a foster son that became his real son, Eddie Russell; mother, Elsie Amyx; brother, Frank "Drano" Amyx; sisters, Kathy Tate and Glenda Travis; a special daughter-in-law, Tara Amyx who provided special care; his best friends, Preacher J.E. Mauk and Billy Ray; his special companion, "Buster" who was always by his side along with many several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday (March 11, 2014) at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday (March 11, 2014) at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Preacher J.E. Mauk, officiating. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday (March 12, 2014) at 12 noon with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 11:50 a.m. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Amyx family.
