Jack Meisinger

Meisinger, Jack passed away Monday January 16, 2017 at his home in Ashburn, VA surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born July 11, 1926 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Arthur Meisinger and Ethel (Murphy) Meisinger. He was baptized into his Christian faith. Jack was married to Ivy Raebel of Milbank, South Dakota on August 6, 1960 in Falls Church, Virginia. He is survived by his wife Ivy, with whom he shared 56 wonderful years, and four children; Christopher of Winchester, VA, Scott of Leesburg, VA, as well as daughters Lynne Melton of Newark, OH, and Lesa Palmer of Cynthiana, KY, daughters-in-law Sandra (Miller) Meisinger and Jana (Gordin) Meisinger and sons-in-law Bill Palmer and Steve Melton. In addition, he is survived by thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends. Jack was predeceased by his parents and his two sisters, Gayle Hetrick and Jeanne Beckman. Jack’s career spanned fifty-six years and involved twenty-three years with the military service, starting with the Army Air Forces (later renamed the USAF) in 1943. He retired from the USAF in 1966. During this time he completed the Aviation Cadet Program, and was subsequently involved in various flight operations. Later he was trained in, and assigned to counterintelligence and intelligence field operations in Europe, the Far East and domestically. His military career was followed by twenty years with the Federal service and twelve years with the private sector . During this time, Jack graduated from George Washington University with his baccalaureate degree. In his latter career segment, he joined Vector Research, Inc., a Rockville, MD based defense contract firm. As a senior program analyst and administrator Jack was involved in SSN-21 (Seawolf) submarine research and development efforts. He enjoyed life … including those cherished moments when flying around the beautiful Virginia countryside or boating with his children and grandchildren in various reaches of the Potomac. But, he especially enjoyed the fullness of the life shared with his loving wife, “Ivy”, and his involvement in the building of his church, Our Savior’s Way Lutheran in Ashburn, VA. Visitation will held on Saturday January 28, 2017 from 3-4 PM at Our Savior’s Way Lutheran Church, 43115 Waxpool Road, Ashburn, VA 20148, where a service will begin at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or Our Savior’s Way Lutheran Church.
