Jack Edward Pierson
January 30th, 1960 - September 21st, 2015
Jack (Jackie) Pierson, 55, of Church Hill, went to meet his Heavenly Father early Monday morning (September 21, 2015) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a graduate of Gate City High School in 1978 and was a member of the football team. Jackie had resided in Church Hill for over 35 years. In his earlier years, he worked for Broadwater Drug Store and was an assistant manager for Sonic on Lynn Garden Drive. He went onto retire from Eastman Chemical Company in July 2014 having worked as a brakeman with Eastman Railroad and later as a Maintenance Service Worker/Hydrostatic Tester. Jack loved going to the beach and hiking in the mountains. He also liked to ride his Harley and to go hunting. He especially loved spending his free time with his grandson, Parker. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Jack Pierson; a step-father, Don Stokes; father-in-law, Shack Crawford; grandparents, Mattie and Glen Pierson, and Mary Minnich. Jack Pierson is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Sue Crawford Pierson; step-children, Tancy Spina and husband, Jason, Robbie Salyer and wife, Rhonda; mother, Elizabeth Stokes; his grandson, Parker Salyer and an anxiously awaited second grandson, Cash Spina; sisters, Sheila Parker and husband, Bill, Donna Pierson, Elizabeth Jane Pierson and wife, Shannon; step-mother, Sylvia Pierson; his mother-in-law, Janie Crawford; an uncle, Wayne Minnich; special friends, Allen (Bones) Hood, Dwight Riggs, Wayne Elkins, Terry Hughes along with a nephew, John Parker and his nieces, Cory Parker and Katie Parker. Calling hours will be held on Friday (September 25, 2015) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill or friends may also call anytime at Jack's home or at the residence of the mother, Elizabeth Stokes. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday (September 25, 2015) at 7p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Andy Sensabaugh and Brother James Arnold, officiating. Music will be provided by the Roberts Sisters. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday (September 26, 2015) at 11 a.m. at Mount Mitchell Church Cemetery with Robbie Salyer, Jason Spina, Tony Roberts, Michael Crawford, Ronnie Crawford, and Chris Crawford serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Castle, James Arnold, Daniel Roberts, Anthony Roberts, and Darrell Salyer. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Pierson family.
