Jack E. Reed
December 25th, 1938 - November 22nd, 2014
Jack E. Reed, age 75, of Mt. Carmel, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at home surrounded by his family following an 8 month battle with cancer. He was a previous member of Mt. Carmel Volunteer Fire Department and a previous assistant chief of Church Hill Volunteer Fire Department. He was of the Methodist faith and attended McFerrin United Methodist Church. He was employed by Copeland Office Equipment for 33 years and was also employed by the Hawkins County School System at Mt. Carmel Elementary for 12 years. He loved all the children at the school. He was preceded in death by his parents, Forb and Vada Lane Reed; brother, Harlan and Linda Reed; brothers-in-law, Charles Arnold Jr. and wife, Joann, and Gail Brickey. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Peggy Arnold Reed, of the home; daughters, Jackie Richardson and husband, Roy of Mt. Carmel, and Tina Ferguson and husband, Billy of Manassas, VA; grandchildren, Amanda Smith and husband, Devin, Melissa Baggette and husband, Jon, and BJ Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Shane, Ruby, Luke and Graham; sister, Gerry Reed Brickey; brother, Frank "Sarge" Reed and wife, Bobbie; several nieces and nephews. Serving the family as pallbearers will be: Roy Richardson, Devin Smith, Tim Barlow, Tim Davis, Sam Bruner and Charles Jones; honorary pallbearers will be: Claude "Pete" Davis, Tracy Davis, Sammy Brickey, Terry Brickey, Jimmy Dean, Jim Byington, Glen Williams and Don Anderson. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Regina Shelton and Rev. Jon Reed officiating. Military honors and graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the home of Jackie Richardson any time at 417 Hammond Ave. Mt Carmel, TN 37645. Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill is honored to serve the Reed family.
