Jack Thomas Sholeff

Jack Thomas Sholeff, 19, passed away on October 21, 2018. Jack was born August 26, 1999 in Indianapolis, Indiana and grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jack is the son of Gregory and Janine Sholeff and brother of Sam Sholeff. Jack graduated with honors from The American Heritage Academy in Las Vegas. As an athlete, he was a black belt in Taekwondo and was on the varsity cross-country team. As a student, he actively participated in student government. After graduating with honors, he traveled to Europe with other scholars. Jack was currently a freshman attending the University of Utah in the Honors pre-dental program. His hope was to go on to serve patients as an orthodontist. He studied biology, and had a passion for art. He was loyal, kind and considerate friend to many. He volunteered at several charities, and especially loved to help those with intellectual disabilities. From early childhood, he developed a passionate and nurturing relationship with animals and nature. He had many pets, exotic and otherwise, which he raised and cared for with deep love. As an artist and sculptor, he was truly remarkable. He shared these gifts with many, and awed others with his work. He loved to celebrate the holidays, using his creative genius to delight children and parents who visited their home. He was quiet and reserved by nature, and yet his easy smile and contagious laugh always lit up a room. He will be remembered for his gentle heart, and his caring and loving soul. He was a magnificent son, brother and friend. His family was blessed by his life on this earth as he grew into honorable manhood. Above all, his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was at the core of his life. Christ’s light burned brightly in him which gave him strength and courage. Jack is survived by his mother Janine Sholeff, father Gregory Sholeff, brother Sam Sholeff, grandmother Milka Sholeff, Grandfather Ernest Lothamer, Grandmother Jamie Craft, aunts Catherine (Sholeff) Jones, Janet (Sholeff) Police, Carol (Sholeff) Badders, uncle and godfather Philip Lothamer, uncles Theodore Sholeff, James Sholeff, Glen Lothamer and Monte Lothamer and multiple cousins. He is preceded in death by Grandfather Theodore Sholeff and Toni Sholeff. On Saturday, October 27, 2018, a Visitation is scheduled at 8:30am with a Funeral Mass at 9:00am, both at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 5830 Mesa Park Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89135, at the corner of Mesa Park and Russell in the newly built church. All are invited to the burial immediately following at Palm Northwest Cemetery, 6701 North Jones Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89131. A reception will be held following the burial from 12noon to 2:30pm at Canyon Gate Country Club, 2001 Canyon Gate Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89117, where Jack was a lifeguard. Jack had a lot of joy as a life guard there, he learned to drive there as a new driver, worked out at the gym there, he hung out there with friends, eating popcorn, laughing and having a good time; his brother Sam played tennis there, where Jack enjoyed venturing to find animals to befriend and take home.
