Jack Lee Torrey
February 25th, 1947 - August 29th, 2023
Our father, Jack Lee Torrey, left this world on August 29, 2023, at the age of 76, in Nyssa, Oregon, surrounded by family. He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts. Jack was born to Jacob Taft Torrey and Francis Mabel Lamm on February 25, 1947, in Nampa, Idaho. Jack was the fourth of five children. Unfortunately, on May 12, 1954, Jack lost his father at the age of 6, and Frances later married Leroy R. McBride. Jack attended Highline Elementary School until 6th grade, where he transferred to Kuna and graduated from Kuna High School. Jack excelled in school and was part of the honor society and FFA. He became the FFA chapter president and then later the Star FFA president for Idaho. After graduation, Jack joined the Marines, attended basic training in San Diego, California, and later graduated from combat training. In 1967, Jack returned home and attended Boise College, where he met Janet Cameron. They had five children: Kristi, Michelle, Sherri, Becky, and David. They were later divorced. In 1978, Jack met Susan Christensen. Jack and Susan married and had five children: Kelli, Melissa, Seth, Jacob, and Drew. Jack and Susan moved to Vale, where they farmed on Greenfield Road. They farmed for several years there and then moved to Country Lane, where he continued to farm and milk cows. In 1995, Jack sold the dairy cows and focused on farming and beef cattle. Jack also went to work for ODC for a few years but quickly went back to his passions: farming, cattle, and watching sports. He loved his kids and spending time with his grandkids. Jack had a strong testimony of his Savior and will continue to do His work on the other side. Jack is survived by his children Michelle (Steve) Taisler Georgia; Sherri (Dan) Coronado Meridian Idaho; Rebecca Cameron Idaho; David (Lora) Spangler California; Kelli (Mike) Winward Fruitland ID; Melissa Jaca Vale OR; Seth (Cheri) Torrey Nyssa OR; Jacob (Kristina) Torrey Fruitland ID, Drew (Becca) Torrey Boise Idaho, brother Robert (Leann) Torrey of Utah, and numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We would love for you to come and honor his life at the Nyssa Stake Center in Nyssa, Oregon, on September 9 at 10:00 AM, with a dinner to follow

Lienkaemper Funeral Chapel-Ontario
For over 100 years, the Lienkaemper Funeral Chapel has served the Ontario, Oregon, community with professional, compassionate care. Our story begins in 1907 when the Peterson family, who owned a furniture store in Ontario, helped with funeral arrangements and sold caskets from the store’s basement. Over the years, the business has grown and had a number of owners, partnerships and names. Among them was our current namesake, the Lienkaemper family, who purchased the family funeral home with the mission of helping families in the Ontario community. ...
