Jack Emory Woodall
January 26th, 1931 - December 18th, 2017
Jack Emory Woodall, age 86, of Matthews, NC passed away peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2017. He was the beloved son of the late Robert F. Woodall and Sarah Helen Clark Woodall. He was born in Columbus, Georgia and was a graduate of Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He served in the US Army and worked toward a commission as a second lieutenant in the Army Signal Corp Reserve. Jack married his sweetheart, Sally Miller Woodall in 1954. They were married for 54 years. Jack worked for the Square D Company for 41 years as a district manager and an area sales manager. After retirement, Jack volunteered with Presbyterian Hospital, delivered friendships trays and taught adult Sunday school at St. Stephens Methodist Church where he was a charter member. He was also involved with the American Red Cross and tutored at Greenway Elementary school. Once he moved to Plantation Estates he enjoyed playing cards, exercising and attending their Bible Study. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother and an excellent provider to his entire family. Jack is survived by his three daughters, Deborah Woodall Brown, Susan Woodall Selzer and her husband Joseph; and Karen Woodall Teddy and her husband Daryl; his five grandchildren; Jaclyn Selzer Patterson and her husband Blake, Joseph Selzer, Ashlyn Selzer, Lauren Teddy Taylor and her husband Daniel and Jessica Teddy. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Maeve E. Patterson and Wyatt Z. Patterson. In addition to his late parents Jack was preceded in death by his wife Sally, his brother Robert "Bobby" F. Woodall II and his sister Sarah H. Woodall Dannelly. A Celebration of Jack's life will take place at 11:00AM on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at St. Stephen's Methodist Church 6800 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270. Visitation will follow his service immediately after in The Holy Grounds Room of the Church. Interment will be private. Contributions in Jack's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to St. Stephen's Methodist Church building fund. Arrangements are in care of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service.
