Jacob Keene

October 20th, 1979 - March 30th, 2024

Jacob Douglas Keene “Jake” 44 of Caldwell, ID passed away peacefully at his home on March 30th, 2024. He was born in Boise, ID on October 20th, 1979. Son of Angela Apodaca, stepfather Michael De Simone Jr. and was preceded in death by his father Douglas Ray Keene. Jake is survived by his younger brother Donia La Cross, and children Isabella, Keira, Kelby, Reese, and Cypress.

Jake loved his children very much. He encouraged his children to take chances, be adventurous, and to live life to the fullest. He particularly enjoyed being an uncle, friend, and playmate to his niece Harper. Jake enjoyed spending his leisure time outdoors and going to concerts as nature and music was a great passion of his. Jake also collected many cars and spent much of his time tinkering under the hoods. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, as we all fell victim to his teasing and funny sense of humor which we all enjoyed.

Jake had a big heart and kind soul. His angelic personality allowed him to make friends anywhere he went. Many of Jake’s friends became his extended family.

Jake is loved by many and will forever be missed.

“Leaving, I hate to see you cry. Grieving, I hate to say goodbye. Dust and ash forever. Though I know we must be parted. As sure as stars in the sky. I’m gonna see when it comes to glory and I’ll see you, I’ll see you on the other side.”

-Ozzy Osbourne “See You On The Other Side”

Oh Jakey.... you are such a beautiful soul. Lots of memories but one I will always remember is you letting me "trim" your hair. I think it took an hour because you kept getting up and looking in the mirror. I kept snipping but I wasn't cutting anything, just stressing you out. Fly with the angels.

How did you meet Jacob?

Angie's son came over one day and we had moved in about a month. He was working on his Dodge truck. We had a click from day one of laughing about jumping vehicles. Good funny times. Jacob, was always full of laughter. Joking about everything. His Jeep was a another laughing story. Always wanting me to take it to see what was wrong. He just kept you laughing 😃. You have left but your laughter will always ring.

I did not get to see Jake as much as I would have liked as he grew up. When ever I was around him he always made me smile and laugh. He was a great help in Idaho in 2021 with a family project!! First to lend a hand and do some major walking. He will be truly missed and always in my heart!!

I missed you yesterday, I miss you today and I'll miss you tomorrow. Thank you for every moment you spent with me, Jacob. Never was there a moment taken for granted, even when listening to heavy metal music on full blast. Until we meet again, Cutie! 💝

Only For a Short While Oh, only for so short a while you have loaned us to each other, because we take form in your act of drawing us, and we take life in your painting us, and we breathe in your singing us. But only for so short a while have you loaned us to each other. Because even a drawing cut in obsidian fades, and the green feathers, the crown feathers, of the Quetzal bird lose their color, and even the sounds of the waterfall die out in the dry season. So, we too, because only for a short while have you loaned us to each other. - Aztec Indian Prayer

Jake was a big hearted man. He acted like a kid alot, had a great sense of humor. He would call me out of the blue with a trailer question or car question. I considered him a friend and I saw the good in him. I will miss him, he died way to young and as a parent I can only imagine the hurt his mom is going through. Angela, I'm so sorry for your loss, I wish I could take away your hurt and give your mind peace. Rest in peace Jake, see you on the other side.
