Jacqueline Mae Millar
June 5th, 1930 - February 19th, 2014
Jacqueline Mae Millar 6/5/30-2/19/14 Jacqueline “Jackie” passed away surrounded by her loving family on February 19, 2014, at the age of 83. She was born to Lawrence and Leona (McCormick) Dunaway in Tulsa, OK and grew up on a farm in Hillsboro, OR with her brothers, Larry and Chuck, and sister, Barbara. In 1949, she married Kenneth Hughes and daughters, Linda and Cheryl soon followed. Jackie’s marriage to Henry “Hank&uo; Hanson in 1958 added son Bill to the family. Hank and Jackie owned and operated the Western Auto store in Canby. After Hank’s death in 1967, Jackie married Al Millar and spent the next 28 years traveling to many different parts of the world and joining the ranks of snowbirds, spending time in Hawaii and Palm Desert. During their “retirement,” Jackie and Al operated Millar’s RV storage, which she continued to operate until her recent passing. Jackie enjoyed times spent on the golf courses of Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby and Palm Valley Country Club in Palm Desert. She looked forward to spending time with her family, especially her grand-children and great-grandchildren, who could always make her smile and brought her great joy. When recently asked what she would most like to be remembered for, she replied “my sense of humor.” She had a wickedly wonderful sense of humor and a smile that would light up the room! She is survived by her children, Linda (Bruce) Thorson, Cheryl (Mat Burroughs) Anderson and Bill (Mary) Hanson; grandchildren, Jon (Carla) Thorson, Drew Thorson, Rodney Anderson, Angie Anderson, Stephanie Hanson, Amy Hanson, and Emily Hanson; great-grandchildren, Charlie Thorson, Jake Halbakken, Kylei Halbakken, and Mikayla Anderson; step-grandchildren, Chris (Tiffany) Thorson, April (Bryan) Thompson, Ryan (Kerrie) Oliver, Shantel (Bob) Harney, Kasie Rapp, Jennifer (Pimen) Simanovicki; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews. Jackie was predeceased by her brothers and sister; husbands; granddaughter, Lori Ann Halbakken; and step-daughters, Jan Rapp and Karen Brusse. A celebration of life service will be Friday, March 7th, 11:00 am, at the Willamette Valley Country Club, 900 Country Club Place, Canby, Oregon, with reception to follow. Donations to the Canby Historical Society (PO Box 160, Canby, OR 97013), Canby Adult Center (PO Box 10, Canby, OR 97013) or charity of your choice would honor Jackie’s wishes.
