In Loving Memory

"We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved son, grandson brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, Jaime Chavez. Jaime was born to Jaime Chavez Zavala and Elizabeth Espinoza on April 3,1998 in Salinas, Ca. Jaime is survived by his mother Elizabeth and siblings Jasmin, Lupe, Junior, Janelle, & Jayla; his maternal grandparents Debbie Sorto and Hector Espinoza, paternal grandfather Benjamin Chavez and many uncles, aunts, and cousins who he loved deeply.

Jaime’s memory is one of love and laughter. He had a natural gift to make everyone around him feel so special. He showed his love by telling jokes and doing silly things to make you laugh until your stomach hurt, convincing you to go on an adventure, telling you what you needed to hear not what you wanted to hear, and by making himself available when you needed it the most. Jaime loved without reservation, his h eart was big enough to embrace everyone and anyone. No matter the occasion, Jaime was present, ready to listen to your troubles and give you the hard truth in a loving and humorous way. He always gave the best advice; he made you believe in yourself, but never forgot to make fun of you as well. His character was unmatched, he truly was the perfect combination of humorous, loving, outspoken, respectful, supportive, and caring.

Jaime cherished time with his friends and family experiencing life in different ways, exploring new restaurants, and attending concerts. He especially enjoyed listening to his favorite artists that included Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Jenni Rivera, Los Gemelos, and Fuerza Regida. Jaime listened to his favorite songs and albums on repeat and at full volume. Once he put on his luxurious shades, his alter ego came to life—a bold persona that thrived on confidence and charisma.

He was ambitious and accomplished goals he set for himself. After graduating from North Salinas High School class of 2016, Jaime quickly rose through the ranks and became a manager at his first job. Jaime’s strong work ethic and determination carried over when he joined Taylor Farms in 2017. He excelled at his duties and eventually became a dispatcher for the company. He was a perfectionist and operated with a level of excellence; he was well-respected and loved by many of his co-workers. Eventually, his hard work paid off and at the age of 22, he became a first time homeowner alongside his older sister Jasmin.

There are countless stories and memories of Jaime that can not possibly be summed up into words. He truly was a once in a lifetime person, and though we can go on and on about him, he was a soul you just had to experience. Though his passing was unexpected, and has left a void in our hearts, we are extremely blessed to have experienced the beauty that Jaime was. We will forever cherish the memories he has gifted us. Remembering his infectious smile will get us through our toughest times, the memory of his contagious laugh will fill our hearts when we miss him the most, and his spirit will live on in the memories we carry and in the ways we choose to honor him.

Jaime, our angel, we miss you and love you so much.

A viewing will be held at Healey Mortuary in Salinas, Ca on Monday 10/28/24 from 1pm-8pm. On Tuesday 10/29/24, burial services will take place at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Prunedale, Ca at 1pm. Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
