James "Jim" K. Brantley
December 15th, 1934 - November 13th, 2023
LEXINGTON, SC - Mr. James K. Brantley went home to his Heavenly Father on Monday, November 13, 2023. A Celebration of Life and Military Service will be conducted in the Spring at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA, date to be determined. Jim was born December 15, 1934, to the late Joseph Harris Brantley and Amanda Rollins Brantley in Lyons, GA. He enlisted in the US Army where he served in the Korea War and the Vietnam War. He completed tours in Korea, Japan, Germany and Vietnam and received the Bronze Star (Vietnam) and two Army Commendation Medals. He retired as a CW3 after 20 years of service. Jim loved to travel in his RV and was a member of the Tri-State Rebels and the Holiday Rambler Club. He also loved to play golf and could be found on the golf course every week with his friends up until the age of 80. He loved to cook and could be found cooking for large crowds, whether with his family or traveling buddies. In addition to his parents, Jim is proceeded in death by his four sisters, his brother, his wife of 47 years and mother of their five children, Sarah Brantley, his wife of 9 years, Martha Brantley, his son, Daniel J. Brantley, and his daughter, Melodie B. Mercier. He is survived by his son, Douglas (Charlotte) Brantley, Enterprise, Alabama, Donald (Denise) Brantley, Conyers, GA, Pamela (Dean) Ochiltree, Prosperity, SC, nine grandchildren, 19 plus one on the way great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
