James Walter Bride, II
May 27th, 1937 - March 7th, 2010
text-align: center James Jim W. Bride, II text-align: center Businessman and Civic Leader It is with much sadness that the family announces the passing of our patriarch, father and mentor, Jim Bride of natural causes in the tranquility of his home Sunday, March 7, 2010. Although Jim had been courageously battling a variety of serious ailments over the last several years, his sudden passing has come as a shock to the family. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linnie M. Bride; eight children including, James W. Bride III, Shellie (French) Scott Bride, Shannon (Darling) Kelly Bride, Sandra (Pelan) Kyle Bride and Lisa Bride; 29 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Bride, of Mukilteo, WA, and Michael Bride, of Blaine, WA. Jim served the construction and logging industries as an equipment dealer, distributor and manufacturer for over 50 years and his name is legendary within the industry. Active in Edmonds and Lynnwood city politics in the 1970s and 80s, Bride navigated intercity and interagency hurdles to publish his vision to fruition of what became the Meadowdale Sports Fields. Bride was an early founder and ardent supporter of Archbishop Murphy Catholic High School. Known as Holy Cross in the early years, Jim was able to witness the growth of the school from a handful of teachers and students operating out of the basement of Perpetual Help Church in Everett to the construction of the new school campus at the present site. In 2009, Jims contributions to the development of the school was recognized by the school officially naming their library after him. Away from his work and activism, Jim loved to relax by salmon fishing on the Puget Sound with family, friends and business associates aboard the Linnie M. Jim also preferred to take helm of the Barbeque at the frequent family gatherings. Jim loved our national pass time and sponsored numerous Little League and Connie Mack Baseball teams through the years. His guidance and wisdom will be dearly missed. His abiding faith and core family values will remain with us forever. A Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Becks Funeral Home, 405 Fifth Ave. S, Edmonds, WA. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 1512 Pine Ave., Snohomish, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be made to Archbishop Thomas J. Murphy High School, 12911 39th Ave. SE, Everett, WA 98208.
