Carter-Trent Funeral Homes - Kingsport
James "Jimbo" Leon Broadwater
October 1st, 1950 - August 25th, 2016
James "Jimbo" Leon Broadwater Jr., 65, of Gate City, passed away Thursday August 25, 2016 unexpectedly at his home. Jimbo graduated from Gate City High School (class of 1969) then attended the University of Tennessee where he explored his interest in architecture. Jimbo returned to Scott County where he began his partnership with Broadwater Trading Company. He also worked for many years with Scott County Co-Op. Later, Jimbo tried his hand at retirement and found he missed 'trading' with his fellow Scott County residents too much, so he returned to work recently at the Thriftway grocery store. Jimbo had an affinity for working outdoors where he always tended a garden. He was predeceased by his mother Betty, father Jim, and his twin brother Alex. James is survived by his wife Nancy, son Daniel, and daughters Amanda and Stephanie. He is also survived by his brother John, and sisters Janet and Susan. A memorial gathering will occur Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Scott County Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Broadwater family.
