Childress Jr, James M. passed away in Fort Collins, CO on his father’s birthday, October 08, 2012. He was 47 years old. He was born in Arlington Heights, IL on January 22, 1965 in a Midwestern ice storm. Jim grew up in Lafayette, CO. and was a graduate of Centaurus High School. He developed a love for Colorado and always called it home. When he was 3 ½ years old, good friends took him snowmobiling up to the top of Guanella Pass near Georgetown, CO. It was at that moment he developed a love of snow, cold weather and snowmobiling that continued throughout his life.Jim experienced many health problems and scares throughout the years, all associated with his diabetes. He was very fortunate that a good friend gave him a kidney in April 2007. His strength of body and mind kept him moving forward even in the most difficult of times.Jim loved to boat, jet ski and swim at Chatfield Marina. “A” Dock was his home with many friends. He was an avid snowmobiler, scuba diver and overall outdoorsman. He traveled to Fiji, Hawaii and the Cayman Islands for his scuba diving adventures and was at home in the water. He won races at Bandimere on his snowmobile and loved riding motorcycles all over Colorado. His “need for speed” was his driving force in life.Jim worked for Albertsons for many years, received his undergraduate degree and went to work for IBM, primarily working on their servers. Jim’s professional niche was working with computers, solving the most complex problems in the U.S. and Europe. He cherished his trips to Sweden, London and Munich for his work travels. His health deteriorated before he could go to Australia, a lifelong dream.Jim is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Nesbitt; his step-father, Les Nesbitt and his sister, Meredith Childress; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his loving father, James M.
