James Marshall Cobb , 75 , of Hiltons, VA passed away July 13, 2023 at his residence. He was born on October 30, 1947 in Greenwood, SC, a son of the late Marshall James Cobb and Juanita Cobb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Cathy Cobb and Lyla Mae Dow. James was an outdoorsman and an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan. Surviving are his children, Linda Michelle Lane, Sherrie Nelson and husband Eric, James Cobb, Jr., Tara G'Fellers and husband Grant; grandchildren, Deanna Lane, Allen Lane, Austin and Blake G'Fellers, Levi and Dylan Cobb; sisters, Martha Hyde, Linda Suche, Maureen Murray, and Ruby Erskin; brother, Jack Cobb; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1:00 pm Monday, July 17, 2023 at Scott County Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Holston View Cemetery with Pastor Marshall Tipton officiating. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA is in charge of the arrangements.
