James Randall Corby, Sr.

March 5th, 1950 - December 13th, 2023

James Randall Corby, Sr. (73) of Johnson City, Tennessee, was welcomed into his savior’s arms in the early morning hours of December 13th. Randall was surrounded by his loved ones as he received his heavenly healing. Randall as most knew him, was a resident of Lexington for 44 years but would often reminisce of his roots in Tennessee. Randall was known by many names of which he held near to his heart including Dad and Papaw, titles in which he was so very proud. Randall was a jack of all trades leading back to his days of working on the family tobacco farm, with a work ethic that is so rare. Randall’s trade was often related to working with his hands in the Tool and Die industry and machine programing. Randall was a family man, a lifelong friend. Everything he did or often sacrificed was always for the benefit of others. He was a man of few words, but when he gave you his word it was as good as done. Randall was known for his own special lingo, accompanied by his Tennessee accent often left you with funny expressions such as britches, and waush-clothes just to name a couple. Randall was a simple man; he didn’t want or need much. He had all he ever needed with his children that hung the moon, grandchildren that put the stars in the sky and great grandchildren that were the sparkle in everything. He would tell you how lucky he was and boast and brag on each one of them if given just a moment of your time. He was predeceased by his Grandparents; Mother, Ruth Hensley Brown and Father, Haskiel James Corby. Randall is survived by his Wife, Bridgette Moore; Sisters, Linda Moorelock, Barbara Hund (Martin), Connie Ross (Lee), Sandra Howell (Mark); Brother, Michael Corby (Lisa); Daughters, Jamie Mills (Ted) and Hope Corby; only Son, James Randall Corby, Jr. (Shirley); Grandchildren, Tamra Radford (Wally), Ryan Martin (Cora), Sydnie Roberts (Zack), Nicholas Corby (Megan), Drake Schwarz (Abbie), Hunter Corby, Mason Corby (Abby) and Madison Clark; and 10 great grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date with his family and close friends. We want to share with you a few things that he would want to leave you with when his memory crosses your heart. His life was not always easy and he often faced numerous obstacles, he has overcome so many things with this simple motivation. “One Day at a Time” “Keep coming back, it works if you work it” “The Corby name is strong and resilient.”
