Jim Cornelisse passed away peacefully after a brief illness on May 15, 2014 with family by his side. Born April 8, 1926, in Hoboken, New Jersey to Jacob and Rose (Tiesters) Cornelisse. Jim inherited his father’s love of the sea and joined the Navy at the age of 17. After the war ended he remained in the reserves until 1962. He began his career with the telephone company but quickly moved to AT&T Bell Laboratories as a physical design engineer. Jim had a kind and gentle soul and was blessed with many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanne and is survived by his sister, Mary. He is survived by his loving wife, Terry, his loving children: Jim Jr. , Lisa, (Robert) Brainard, Todd (Theresa) Cornelisse, Rob (Jennifer) Burton and Jamie Burton. He is also survived by several grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach on Tuesday, May 20th from 5 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 21th at Our Saviours Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Saint Vincent DePaul Society at Our Saviors Catholic Church, 5301 N. Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach, FL 32931 .

I loved having Jim as my brother-in-law for the past almost 40 years. He was always very welcoming and gracious whenever I went to visit he and Terry. He sill surely be missed.
