James Edward Daley
November 16th, 1956 - July 24th, 2004
" James E. Daley, Sr., 47, of Homestead St, died Saturday in Palmer as a result of a motorcycle accident. Born in Brooklyn, NY, November 16 1956, he was the son of the late James B. Daley, and Shirley (Wilder) Maloney. Jim grew up and lived in the area for many years before settling in Palmer in 1986. He was a graduate of Tantasqua High School and served in the United States Navy from 1973-1975. He worked at Brookfield Machine in W. Brookfield for 17 years as a Quality Control Inspector and in March began working in the same capacity at DFF in Agawam. Jim was a 20 year member of the Second Congregational Church in Palmer where he was involved in many aspects of church life. He was an usher and also served on the Diaconate for 6 years, three years as its Chairman. He was active in the church’s Pilgrim Fellowship youth group, assisting in various trips and fundraisers. Jim loved all sports and coached numerous sports teams of which his children were a part. He was also involved in scouting for many years with his son James. Jim was an avid bicyclist and enjoyed motorcycles and four wheelers. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father and friend. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 18 years, Susan (Jeffery) Daley, his children James E., Jr. and Elizabeth Ann both at home and his daughter Jessica of Paxton. He also leaves a brother, William McGowan and his wife Connie of Fl. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather Richard Maloney (2002). Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the Second Congregational Church followed by burial in Four Corners Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St. Donations may be made in his memory to a scholarship fund for the benefit of James and Elizabeth Daley, c/o Country Bank for Savings 352 Palmer Road, Ware MA 01082. "
