James A. Delvo
October 14th, 1936 - December 31st, 2014
Jim Delvo passed away on December 31, 2014 at Brookdale Green Mountain at the age of 78. Jim was born October 14, 1936 to Elizabeth and Walter Delvo in Langdon, North Dakota, and graduated from North Dakota State University with an Industrial Engineering degree in 1960. While attending school, he worked as a custom combiner during the summers. His first job after graduation was at Boeing in Washington State. After he left Boeing, he came to Colorado and was hired as an engineer at CoorsTek, then called Coors Porcelain. A couple years after settling in Colorado, he met and married his wife, Norma. Jim worked at Coors for over 30 years managing ceramics plants before retiring as the company†™s Chief Operating Officer in 1999. During his career at CoorsTek, he had the opportunity to work in California, Oregon, and Texas, but was transferred back to Golden, Colorado before retiring. Once retired, he and his wife spent 10 years splitting time between their homes in Morrison, Colorado and Mesa, Arizona, which enabled him to play golf year round. Jim was an avid golfer, and was lucky enough to have the opportunity to play golf at courses such as Torrey Pines, St Andrews and Augusta. He is survived by his wife, Norma Delvo; his daughter, Renee Delvo; and his stepdaughters, Monica Heinzman and Cheryl TerHaar. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren. A memorial mass and reception will be held Friday, January 30, 11 AM, at Light of the World Catholic Church at 10316 W. Bowles Ave. Littleton, CO 80127 A private interment will take place at the Golden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the church or charity of choice.
