James ?Jimako? Demopoulos Mr. Demopoulos, 83, of Charlotte, NC died Friday, October 28 at Sardis Nursing Home. Born in Alepohori, Greece, on November 15, 1927 he was the son of the late George and Vasiliki Demopoulos and brother of the late Olga Gkizis of Greece. Jim moved to Charlotte in 1972 from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada with his wife Anna and 3 children. He owned and operated what has become one of Charlotte?s most popular fast food landmarks, Zack?s Hamburgers on South Blvd. A loving husband and father, a hero to his grandchildren, a genuine friend to every person he met. Supporting his community, church and many Greek organizations through the years, his favourite was working the Greek community elections and the admissions gate at the Yiasou Greek Festival. He is lovingly remembered as ?Jimako the jokester? for always making everyone laugh and for his famous saying "Opos eipame" (like we talked about) which he used frequently as a loving salutation when leaving loved ones to assure them that everything would be fine. He will be missed by all his family and friends throughout Canada, the U.S. and Greece. James is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anna and his 3 children and their families, his daughter, Bessie Christophilakis of Markham, Ontario and her husband Peter and daughter Ana-Maria; his son, George Demopoulos of Charlotte and his wife Elaine and their children Jimmy, Chris and Zachary; his son, Zack Demopoulos of Randolph, New Jersey and his wife Phyllis and their children Demetri, Kosta and Anastasia. The growth of our service and the community's support led to our move in March 1963 to the current location—once St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, built in 1930. Our chapel, a cherished historic landmark within the storied Dilworth neighborhood, is renowned for being the only funeral home in Charlotte graced with its own chapel, echoing with decades of history and serenity....
