James Alexander Dubick
November 7th, 1977 - August 24th, 2024
James Dubick passed away on August 24, 2024, from heart failure. He was 46 years old.
James was born in Cottage Grove, Oregon on November 7, 1977. He grew up in Creswell, graduating from Creswell High School as the Valedictorian of his class in 1995. He was a high achiever and excelled academically. At home he was a kind and caring big brother and son. He went on to attend Amherst College and earned a degree in Political Science in 1999. During his undergrad years James was a resident advisor helping mentor younger students. During the summer of his freshman year, he began working with OSPIRG which began a 22-year career with the US PIRGS working to advocate and fund-raise for policies and legislation to help protect consumers and the environment. James rose to a leadership role in the organization. His time with PIRG led to travel across the country and found him laying down roots in Massachusetts, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
In 2012 James moved back to Oregon to be closer to family while continuing to work remotely. In 2018 he transitioned from his long tenure with US PIRG to a new chapter working for Resistance Labs, currently known as Movement Labs, as Operations Director. In this role he led impactful work pushing for progressive candidates to run in political races across the country. This work was very important to him, and he was passionate about the role he played in continuing to make positive social change.
Outside of work James enjoyed travel and exploring the cities he lived in. He loved trying new restaurants and sharing the local attractions with friends and family when they visited. He loved watching movies and shows, and reading a good book, he particularly enjoyed science fiction. James was beloved by his family, friends, and co-workers. He had a light spirit and a quick wit. We will all miss his beautiful smile and joyful laugh.
